We recently completed a full Victorian Conservatory replacement in Plymouth for our client, Laura, transforming a failing structure into a stylish and durable Victorian Conservatory. The project included the installation of a high-performance Guardian Warm Roof and essential structural reinforcement to ensure long-term stability and comfort.
The Challenge
Sadly, Laura’s existing conservatory had reached the end of its lifespan. After years of service, the original polycarbonate roof was heavily weathered and no longer provided adequate insulation or protection from the elements.
More concerning, however, were the large cracks that had developed in the supporting walls – clear signs of structural weakness and a potential safety hazard.
While a simple roof replacement might have seemed like a reasonably quick fix, it wasn’t a viable option in this case. The underlying issues with the base and walls meant that the entire conservatory needed to be replaced to ensure safety, durability, and improved thermal efficiency.
As a result, the project required not just cosmetic improvements, but a complete structural overhaul.
The Solution
Our team began by carefully dismantling the existing conservatory and assessing the foundation. To support the weight of a modern Guardian Warm Roof, the base needed significant reinforcement. So, we excavated and rebuilt the foundation, ensuring it met the necessary load-bearing requirements and provided a solid platform for the new structure.
Once the groundwork was complete, we installed a beautifully designed Victorian-style Conservatory. The frame features a contemporary anthracite exterior with a crisp white interior, creating a modern yet timeless aesthetic. The Guardian Warm Roof was fitted using Tapco grey lightweight tiles, delivering excellent thermal efficiency while maintaining a traditional tiled appearance.
This combination not only enhances the visual appeal of the property but also dramatically improves insulation, making the space comfortable to use all year round.
The Results
The finished conservatory has completely transformed Laura’s home. What was once a deteriorating and underperforming space is now a stunning, fully functional dining room. The improved insulation, thanks to the high-performance, thermally-efficient Guardian Warm Roof, means the room stays warm in winter and cool in summer, while the robust construction provides peace of mind for years to come.
