Because the Guardian Warm Wall is less than half the thickness of a traditional cavity wall while achieving the same thermal value, you get extra space. In fact, a typical 5m x 4m extension will provide up to 20% more internal floor space.
It’s a highly flexible system, and you can design the ideal home extension with a range of roof types, such as Edwardian, Lean-to, Gable-ended, or flat roof with one or multiple lanterns. To help you let the light into your new Guardian Home Extension, we can install VELUX roof windows in sizes up to 780 mm x 1800 mm or the Guardian Solstice fixed rooflight system.
To ensure your peace of mind, the Guardian Home Extension has been independently and rigorously tested by the Building Research Establishment (BRE). How long does it take to build a Guardian Home Extension?
The average construction time of a Guardian Home Extension is far quicker than a traditional brick-built extension. On average, it takes about three weeks to complete the process, depending on the size of the extension and the specific options you have selected.
Guardian Warm Roof FAQs
How can Guardian guarantee the thermal performance of the warm roof system?
The Guardian Warm Roof System has been subjected to independent thermal analysis that takes into account the entire roof assembly, including cold bridging, to give a true U-value, as required by Building Regulations. Cold bridging has a major impact on U-value and, if not taken into account, will reduce thermal performance.
Many roof conversions state similar U-values or better. However, unless the entire assembly has been thermally tested, these are only theoretical. If in doubt, ask!
I’ve read reports of condensation and mould with these types of roof – how is Guardian different?
The Guardian Warm Roof is a ventilated roof system. Slots in the ring and ridge beams let air flow freely through the roof, allowing any moisture to exit. With many unproven roof conversions, moisture can form inside the roof, which causes staining and mould growth to the internal plasterboard. In turn, this leads to deterioration or even failure of the roof components.
