The Science Behind the Guardian Warm Roof

Simply put, the Guardian Warm Roof is able to keep heat in when needed and stay cool in the warmer months.

The roof has a mixture of ventilation systems and insulation materials within it. By having each of them, the roof can keep a comfortable temperature all year round. A ventilated ring beam, waterproof plyboard and breathable waterproof membrane are installed first before any tiles are laid. The materials used within the roof allow adequate ventilation to eliminate condensation. Inside the conservatory, gaps between the rafters are left to provide ventilation. Under those timber battens comes 125ml of high-performance insulation, and aluminium tape is applied to the joints to ensure it remains airtight.

All of the materials used in the installation of a Guardian Warm Roof features an aspect of weatherproofing, meaning no unwanted drafts or stuffy air is being kept in the conservatory.

Thermal science also helps you to save money on your energy bills! The Guardian Warm Roof is designed to be energy efficient and because of this, it has achieved a superior U-value (0.18 W/m.K in England and Wales and 0.15W/m.K in Scotland). This means that you won’t be wasting money trying to keep the room at a nice temperature throughout the year.
